Built on Trust.
Backed by Certification.
Dark Horse Home Improvements was born out of frustration every homeowner knows too well. Bad contractors. Disappearing tradespeople. Jobs left half-finished and promises never kept. Founder Gary Jolicoeur saw it happening in his community and decided to do something about it.
As a dual Red Seal endorsed Plumber and Carpenter, Gary brings a level of formal training and accountability to every project that most contractors in the industry simply can't offer. Dark Horse is built on honesty, quality craftsmanship, and the belief that you deserve a renovator who actually shows up and delivers.
We're proud to serve Airdrie, Rocky View County, Cochrane, Chestermere, and the surrounding communities.
What We Do
From bathroom renovations and basement finishing to plumbing services and carpentry, we handle your renovation from start to finish.
Why Dark Horse?
Guaranteed Workmanship
We're fully licensed, insured, and committed to a no-surprises process from your first estimate to your final walkthrough. We stand behind everything we build with a 1-year workmanship guarantee. Quality isn't just something we talk about. It's something we prove.
Your Neighbours, Not a Corporation
We live and work in this community. We know these streets, these homes, and the people in them. When we work in your home, we treat it with the same care and respect we'd want shown in our own.
Certified — Not Just Experienced
In an industry where certification isn't necessarily required, we went the extra mile, twice. Gary holds dual Red Seal endorsements in Plumbing and Carpentry, meaning every job meets or often exceeds Alberta's building codes, and is done to a professional, accountable standard.
Award-Winning.
Community-Recognized.
Our community has spoken, and we're honoured.

What Our Clients Say
“Gary is the most reliable, meticulous, clean, skillfull, well rounded contractor we have ever hired. Excellent communicator, hard working, and great pricing. I wish more trades people were like him. We will definitely hire him again for future projects.”

“I cannot recommend Dark Horse Home Improvements enough!! Gary was extremely responsive to my inquiry and was ready to make my little powder room idea come to life. He did look at me a little funny when I said I wanted a black chandelier He was so helpful with every detail right from day one. This was my first ever mini reno experience and I would a million percent use him again!!”
- Chantelle Louise
